Effective date: July 10, 2026 · Last updated: July 10, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Dyslexia Institute ("we," "us") collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you visit dyslexia-institute.com (the "Site"). We've written it to be readable — because policies only protect people who can understand them.
Note: replace bracketed items (like the postal address) with your final business details, and have counsel review before launch.
1. Who we are
Dyslexia Institute is the data controller for personal information collected through this Site. Contact: hello@dyslexia-institute.com [postal address to be added].
2. Information we collect
- Information you give us: name, email address, location, role (parent/educator/etc.), and message contents when you join as a member, subscribe to the newsletter, or contact us.
- Information collected automatically: if you consent to analytics cookies, we collect usage data such as pages visited, device and browser type, and approximate (city-level) location. See our Cookie Policy.
- We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13 (see Section 9), and we ask that you not include details about a specific child in web forms beyond what is necessary.
3. How we use your information
- To provide membership benefits and respond to your inquiries (contract / legitimate interests).
- To send the newsletter and updates you've requested (consent — unsubscribe links appear in every email).
- To improve the Site using consented analytics (consent).
- To comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.
4. Legal bases (GDPR)
Where the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation applies, we rely on: consent (newsletter, non-essential cookies), contract (membership), legitimate interests (site security, responding to messages), and legal obligation (record-keeping).
5. Service providers
We use trusted processors to run the Site, including:
- Mailchimp (Intuit Inc.) — newsletter and email delivery. Their privacy policy applies to processing on our behalf.
- Website hosting provider — [name your host here once chosen].
Providers may process data outside your country; where GDPR applies, transfers rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.
6. How long we keep data
Membership and newsletter data are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. Contact messages are kept up to 24 months. Consented analytics data are retained per the analytics tool's configured retention period.
7. Your rights
Everyone: unsubscribe from email at any time via the link in any message or by contacting us.
EEA/UK (GDPR): you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or object to processing, and withdraw consent at any time. You may also complain to your supervisory authority.
US state privacy laws (including California's CCPA/CPRA and similar laws in other states): you may request to know, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you, and to opt out of "sale" or "sharing." We do not sell or share personal information as defined by these laws. We honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals where required. We will never discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
To exercise any right, email hello@dyslexia-institute.com with the subject "Privacy request." We respond within the timelines required by applicable law (generally 30–45 days) and may need to verify your identity.
8. Security
We use appropriate technical and organizational measures — HTTPS, access controls, and reputable providers — to protect your information. No internet transmission is 100% secure; please use judgment about what you include in messages.
9. Children
This Site is intended for adults — parents, educators, and professionals. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the equivalent age of consent in your jurisdiction). If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Cookies
See our Cookie Policy for details, and use Cookie Settings to change your choices at any time.
11. Changes to this policy
We'll post updates here and revise the "Last updated" date. Material changes will be highlighted on the Site or, where appropriate, emailed to members.
